His works were mainly devoted to landscapes, the working-class milieu and Arcadian themes. In 1927 he was given the opportunity to exhibit at the Hagenbund for the first time, and ten years later he became a member himself. Due to the modernist tendencies of his paintings, in which he intensively explored Cubism, he was partially banned from exhibiting in 1938. After the end of the Second World War, he continued his work as a member of the Vienna Secession and took part in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad.
