Stalzer gained particular importance as a portrait painter, as he portrayed a large number of important national and international personalities, statesmen, artists, representatives of the nobility, science and business. Parts of his oeuvre can be found in the Vienna Museum, the Albertina, the Military History Museum and in the art collection of the Society of Music Friends.
