    Frederick 'Fred' Spurgin was born in

    Frederick 'Fred' Spurgin was born in Czechoslovakia in 1882. He then went on to to establish himself as a reputed postcard illustrator in Britain. He was especially prolific during WWI, producing many patriotic postcards. He is also renowned for his designs featuring children and comic designs. Following the war, Spurgin reverted back to type, again producing some fine humorous designs.
