Biography

Mireille Spademan was born in Paris where she started painting from a very early age. She studied comparative literature at Paris University before moving to London in the 70s. During her early years in London, Mireille painted and exhibited 3D work before joining St Martin's School of Art in 1978 where she studied Art. She produced a body of work consisting mainly of abstract constructions before she got interested in depicting the human figure through the influence of Max Beckman. During the 80s and well into the 90s Mireille produced a rich portfolio of work depicting the human figure before turning her creative energy to everyday objects as well. Working from her studio in West London, Mireille now focuses mainly on abstract subjects while continuing to produce figurative work.
