          TRANSPARENT ENAMEL-ON-GOLD VASE Meiji Period By Namikawa Sosuke (1847-1910). In teardrop form with delightful feathered design beneath a transparent red enamel. Seal mark signature on base. Height 7.5" (19 cm). Namikawa Sosuke was brought to the world's attention by Siegfried Bing at the Gallery Art Nouveau in Paris and again at the Chicago World's Fair in 1890. His pieces worked on gold are exceedingly rare. A similar example in blue can be found in the Fuji Museum in Tokyo.
