Vasile Soponariu completed his studies at the “Nicolae Grigorescu” Univeristy of Fine Arts in Bucharest with the promotion of 1984 and soon he became a member of the Bucharest Union of Fine Artists. Throughout his career, Soponariu participates in numerous national and international exhibitions and is awarded important prizes including: the Prize of the Union of Visual Artists in Bucharest "Fire Arts" and in 2010 and 2012 won the Grand Gold Medal of the Association " The World of Culture and the Arts ”in Cannes. ”Among the most imaginative contemporary artists, Vasile Soponariu is the author of a series of works made especially in the bronze technique. Because he is one of the sculptors irresistibly attracted by the arts of fire, Soponariu comes with an extra decorativism, of baroque origin, of his characters. More present in the studio, where he gives birth to hybrid, human-animal forms, than in the creation camps, the artist stands out with his three-dimensional, supple compositions, elongated vertically, of smaller dimensions. The monumental is not as close to him as this universe of characters born from a living imagination, anchored in dreamlike and mythological, is familiar to him. The dynamism and vivacity of his plastic incarnations are accentuated by the meticulous treatment of the surfaces by skates and by that surplus of details that gives each character a special individuality.
