After graduating from the Pyongyang University of Fine Arts in 1997; he worked as a professional artist at the Korea Art Company, in which he became the Vice President between 2009-2011. In 2005, he graduated from the Canada Computer Graphic Design Institution, and obtained his Master’s degree of Fine Arts the next year. In 2008, Ri was awarded as Merited Artist by the government in 2008. After that, he has painted actively in various countries, such as the United Kingdom; China and Saudi Arabia, and stayed in Malaysia during 2013-2015.
