(frame).Note: Anne was the daughter of the writer and peeress Lady Elizabeth Ashburnham and Sir John Ashburnham. Her husband, Sir Edward Dering, was a politician and antiquarian, who rose to favour at the English court through his mother-in-law's connection with the Beaumont family. This is presumably a marriage portrait.
