      Feb. 08, 2024

FERNANDO ALMELA and ALBERTO SOLSONA. No title. Pair of serigraphs, P.A. Signed..

      Est: €350 - €400

FERNANDO ALMELA (Valencia, 1947 - Madrid, 2009) and ALBERTO SOLSONA (Barcelona, 1947 - Madrid, 1988). Untitled. Pair of silkscreen prints, P.A. copies. Signed and justified by hand. Sizes: 50 x 65 cm (both). Fernando Almela and Alberto Solsona formed one of the most active artistic couples of the Spanish transition, and between 1972 and 1977 they produced most of their work together. Almela's language was based on colour and form, with a Cézannian heritage, influenced by Morandi, Matisse, Sorolla and Gerardo Rueda. Solsona, for his part, reflected the influence of pop art, combining it with surrealism. Both are currently represented in important collections, although the Almela-Solsona Foundation, founded by the former in 1991, is the institution that holds the largest number of works by both.
