About Jerzy Sojka

My current works are abstract paintings and abstract objects of geometrical form. The most important issue to me is the form as the result of a good idea. I'm convinced that the form should be dictated by an interesting concept. There is no doubt that the recipient who is instilled with some idea from the side of the artwork, won't pass indifferently past such work but will only focus their own attention and will start thinking about it. Then one has space for one’s own reception and can make their reception most interesting. I’m inspired by the temporal world, the human body and cosmic world.

In any piece, I find that the crucial components of form are: a shape - which should be sophisticated, a colour - which should conform to the main idea, as well as: the golden proportions, of course, or other elements of the material, factures, that affect the wealth of work technique and enrich the means of expression. I attach a great importance to the shape and I do aim it to be well thought-out and reflect the idea in the most interesting way. So, my artworks are of different forms: diptychs, polyptychs and others forms with various elements and various quality of the factures. Sometimes they’re in the form of standard shape too. I strive for a colour that attracts attention. If it's a sophisticated colour - then it absorbs the attention of the viewer even from a distance.
