Soerono Art for Sale at Auction

SOERONO (1914-2000): His full name was RM Soerono Hendronoto and he was born in Cilacap on August 22, 1914. Soerono was an idealistic painter; during the decade of the 1970s he lived in isolation in Celuk and around Kuta beach, Bali, for the sole purpose of painting. After a stroke attack in 1980 left him half-paralyzed, Soerono continued to paint with his left hand. He stopped painting 2 weeks after his 86th birthday when he became bedridden. He died on Tuesday, October 3, 2000. Soerono was on of the designers of Oeang Repoeblik Indonesia (ORI), the early banknotes of the ehen infant Indonesian Republic.
