      Sterling silver, embossed, chased, engraved and cast London, 1858 Stephen Smith & William Nicholson (active c. 1850-1863) - Silversmiths in London Maker’s mark, silver standard mark, city mark, duty mark and date letter on the underside; hallmarked again on the inside of the lid Height, including handle: 19 cm Weight: circa 779 g Very good condition Provenance: formerly Finlay Family An elegant teapot from the Victorian era Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 700 Euro This teapot features a bulbous form onto a plain circular foot. The upper part of the body is adorned with an encircling band of an Arabesque-like decoration, while the lower part shows a narrow band of stylized harp-like ornaments. The swan necked spout is decorated with a complimentary motif to the underside. The upper rim of the teapot features an egg-and-dart decoration. The domed hinged lid is fitted with a bud shaped knob, surrounded by acanthus leafs. The fluted C scroll handle is embellished with modelled acanthus leafs. One side of the teapot bears The Finlay family crest with the Motto “I’ll be wary”, and the other side with the engraved monogram ‘KJF’. Condition: The teapot is in a very good condition, showing only the lightest signs of use. The height, including the handle, is 19 cm, while the weight is about 779 g.
