Gabriel Smith has a B.Arch from Tulane University and a M.Arch from Harvard University. He is a Director at Thomas Phifer and Partners in New York. Through this firm, Smith was involved with the design of the Museum of Modern Art Warsaw and served as project director on the Glenstone Museum, Potomac, Maryland, Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, New York, and the North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh, North Carolina.

Gabriel Smith is an artist based in Chicago who creates drawings, paintings and prints. He uses high quality archival media and materials such as oil on canvas. His paintings are pervaded by a light and layered quality and imbued with the freedom of the drawn line, frequently leaving traces and instances of charcoal and pencil. Repetitions of objects and the invocation of columns are frequently depicted.
