    19th C. Oglala Lakota Large Stone Driver

    The lot features an original 1800's large stone driver full-groove head from the Oglala Lakota Sioux with paperwork from The Guns of History. The piece exhibits a large stone driver which has a full-groove running around the entire pounder. The piece exhibits Togia Lakota language marks as documented by Wendell Grangaard, "Acting Father - Oglala - married - Little Bird - Dakota" which is writen on the stone four times (each side, as shown on illustrations 1-4). Acting Father was an Oglala Lakota Sioux who lived in the Wounded Knee district of Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. He met Littel Bird, a Dakota woman at a pow-wow and married moving with her family to the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Reservation. The stone is marked from from a collection, "N.E. N. DAK. 8# HTT / Y0064", documenting where the stone was recovered in North Eastern North Dakota and being 8 pounds. The piece comes with paperwork and the stone measures 7" by 5.5" by 5".

    Sioux Gunstock Three Blade War Club 19th Century

    This is a wonderful gunstock three blade war club from the Sioux Native American Indians. The piece features a Revolutionary War (1775-1783) Colonial American style gunstock wood frame with an intricate file burned and ochre dyed alternating design accenting both sides. The blades are a Revolutionary Spontoon style being Great American Bison Buffalo blades (very unique). The blade is held into place with lead or pewter and has a unique design. The handle shows rich red and black ochre coloring and wonderful file burnings. The piece is from the 19th century (1800-1890) and shows an overall well preserved museum quality condition. The piece is from a private collection in Canada. Measures overall 29.25”L x 10 7/8”W with a 6 7/8”L x 1 5/8”W blades.

    This is a beaded leather belt from the Sioux Native American Indians. The piece shows a early 1800?s glass trade seed beaded geometric design on a leather belt with a nickel silver buckle. The pieces were purchased and sold by Otto F. Ernst. Otto Ernst was a renowned Saddle Maker and would purchase Native American items to sell in his Saddle shop and Catalog. Otto Ernst Saddlery Sheridan, Wyoming. These are from circa 1890-1910. Each measures 7?x5.75? Rare Piece.

    This is a very rare early Sioux Native American Indian pipe bag. The bag shows wonderful designs with 1800's glass trade seed bead and pony beads with rare and early porcupine quill work. The beadwork is on both sides of the piece. The quill work is all natural dyed and is shown across the both sides of the bottom, across the top fringe with very fancy beadwork and the hanging tassels with the tine cones. The bag has red ocher hide and is all sinew sewn. The bag is from circa 1860's and is in wonderful condition. This very rare bag was collected from a private museum in Martin, South Dakota. Finest bag the long time collector has ever owned. Overall the bag measures 44" long and 4.75" wide. The piece comes in a black box with a glass top and measures 14.5"x20.5"x1.25"

    1800's Carbine with Eagle Marking belonging to Dakota Sioux Chief Rain-in-the- Face (ITE-O-MAGAZU). Gun surrendered by him at Fort Keogh, Montana Territory Oct 31, 1880. (See brass plaque on Butt Stock of Rifle) Enclosed is tag showing who it was surrendered to and then given to Capt Eli Huggins and displayed World Columbia Exposition Chicago 1892. Also enclosed are numerous photos of Rain-In-The-Face and wife.
