Olga Simonova Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1969 -

Olga Simonova was born in Bryansk, 200 miles south of Moscow, in 1969. She attended Art school and then Art College there before winning a place at the Academy of Fine Arts in St Petersburg. She studied with the art Professor Eduard Kochergin, famous in Russia, as an extraordinarily innovative theatre set designer.

Olga herself has become a successful set designer, having worked on many productions for theatres in St Petersburg and Bryansk. Her easel painting style is also very individual and special. She has been influenced by the Russian avant-garde movement and by the work of Malevich and Kandinsky in particular. The bright colours in her work reflect her interest in the Russian folk style and her reverence for the ancient iconic tradition.
