Nicola Simbari's paintings and prints capture the essence of the human spirit. Skilled in many art forms, his passion was always figurative painting. Born in 1927 in the village of San Lucido, Italy, Simbari discovered an affinity for art when his family relocated to Rome. He attended Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, after which his one-man art shows in Rome and London drew wide acclaim. In 1958 he was given the coveted commission to paint murals at the World’s Fair in Brussels.

Inspired by the avant-garde movement and artists Georges Braque and Joan Miro, Simbari eventually developed his own style, Simbaresco. Showcasing his use of palette knives and very little brushwork, Nicola Simbari's paintings and serigraphs dramatically combine light with vivid colors.
