          Est: €2,800 - €3,000

PAUL SILVESTRE (1884 - 1976). "Jeune fille et chevreau", ca. 1930. Sculpture in silver-plated bronze. Signed. With stamp of the publisher Susse Frères, Paris. Measurements: 29 x 82 x 18 cm. Paul Silvestre was born in Toulouse, although he developed his career in Paris when he was admitted in 1905 in the School of Fine Arts of the capital. Years later, in 1912, he won a scholarship to Rome and, from 1921, he exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français, winning the gold medal in 1930. This work manages to condense in the same term two diametrically opposed attitudes: on the one hand, tranquility, drawn in the figure of the woman, naked and kneeling before the animal which, on the opposite side, violently pushes with its hindquarters in an offensive attitude.

PAUL SILVESTRE (Toulouse,1884 - Ivry-sur-Seine, France, 1976). "Galloping horses with rider". Lost wax bronze. Signed.

          Est: €2,500 - €2,800

PAUL SILVESTRE (Toulouse,1884 - Ivry-sur-Seine, France, 1976). "Horses galloping with rider". Lost wax bronze. Signed. Size: 41 x 55 x 25 cm. In this work Paul Silvestre depicts, with his personal style rich in detail, realistic, dynamic and enormously expressive, three galloping horses, on which a rider is mounted. This theme allows the artist to depict the animals in full effort, captured in a fleeting moment, moving at full speed. This figure reveals Silvestre's talent for capturing human anatomy and gesture, magnificently achieved despite the fact that he was an animalistic sculptor. Paul Silvestre entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1905 and the workshops of Antonin Mercié and Antonin Carlès. In 1911 he was awarded the Desprez prize, then the first second Grand Prix de Rome in 1912. He exhibited regularly from 1921 at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he won a gold medal in 1930.
