    Oil on canvas Oswald Adalbert Sickert (1828-1885) – German-Danish painter Signed and dated 'Oswald Sickert. 58' lower right  On the reverse stamped [illegible] Dimensions: 66.8 x 54.7 cm Gilt stucco frame: 77 x 64 cm Provenance: Private property, Northern Germany Painting of a four-generation family Condition: The painting is in good condition consistent with the age. The varnish is slightly darkened and tiny craquelé can be seen overall on the canvas. There are areas with minimal scuffing due to the frame along the upper edges and corners of the canvas. Retouched spots can be seen mainly affecting the part of the sky and very few at the right edge. The frame is in good condition too and shows traces of usage such as small tears. There are small spots with loss of material affecting the outer edges of the frame. Oswald Adalbert Sickert (1828-1885) Oswald Adalbert Sickert was German-Danish genre and landscape painter. He was the son of the painter Johann Jürgen Sickert and both of his sons became fine artists as well. Sickert studied first at the academy in Copenhagen since 1844 and later at the academy in Munich. At the end of the 1860s the artist moved to London, were he settled down and opened a studio. (msc) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
