      A PAIR OF PORTRAITS BY WILLIAM SHUTER (IRISH 18TH CENTURY) Couple each oil on panel 28.5 x 23.5 cm (11 1/4 x 9 1/4 in.) signed lower left (female), lower right (male) CONDITION Observed in frame, the works are in overall very good condition. Fine, stable and age-appropriate horizontal craquelure to both. Three shallow scuffs to the upper center and upper right of the man. The surface of the same painting is stained, as visible in raking light. Inspection under UV shows an even layer of varnish to both; small spots of retouching to the right of the man and, at around the same level, at the center left edge; very small scattered retouches at the perimeter of the female figure. N.B. All lots are sold in as-is condition at the time of sale.
