Stainless steel, lacquered China, 2006 Shu Yong (born in 1974) - Chinese multimedia artist Signed ‘Shu Yong’ (in Chinese), dated ‘2006’ and numbered ‘2/2’ Dimensions: circa 80 x 60 x 60 cm A plea to the naturalness. ‘Bubble Woman’ is the most famous work of the controversial Chinese artist Shu Yong. Yong's works have already been sold for more than €147,000 Object is regular taxed. 19% VAT is added to the purchase price for deliveries within the EU. Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 30,000 Euro The metaphor of the bubble is a recurring motif in the works of the Chinese artist Shu Yong (born in 1974). Yong uses it as a symbol of the myths and the reality of the Chinese society, which he scrutinized with his works. In ‘Bubble Woman’, Yong examines the influence of Western society on the Chinese media world. The oversized breast, which wears a miniature-like Barbie doll, is symbol of seduction and burden at the same time. Where is the role of the woman behind the apparent attraction? Condition: The work is in very good condition, showing only the lightest signs of use. The dimensions are approximately 80 x 60 x 60 cm. Shu Yong (born in 1974) Shu Yong was born in Xupu, Hunan Province. As the founder of an advertising agency, his works are influenced by the media and often are aimed to provoke interaction with the audience. He himself referred his works to as ‘social sculptures’ in the tradition of Joseph Beuys. So are his ‘body artworks’ mediators for political expression and explore their opportunities in today's media. Yong has been exhibited internationally and was represented in 2013 at the Biennale in Venice. He lives and works in Beijing.
