The glass works by Tim Shaw are characterized by a particularly fine and bright color, which is composed in an almost painterly manner. In his ‘Slash & Cut’ series he sculpts traditional blown forms with a diamond saw, creating an interesting and unusual surface texture. Tim Shaw (b. 1959) In the early 1980s Tim Shaw graduated from North Staffordshire Polytechnic in the UK and went on to study at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam where he developed a unique style of glass art. Back in the UK he established a glass workshop in London where he continued his artistic work. After a while he undertook a second degree at the prestigious Royal College of Art in London where he further refined his glassmaking skills.
