    Within the forest, a bountiful harvest of yam is secured onto an old bicycle, perhaps belonging to a farmer. Depicted in a realistic style, the watercolours of Rohaizad Shaari are observations of the realities of life in his surroundings. Through his works, the artist sought to express the transitions and effects of modernisation experienced by the local community in the rural landscape. Rohaizad Shaari had several solo exhibitions, Gerek (2003), Gelagat (2009) and Pohon Cemara (2011). He graduated in his studies in fine art at UiTM in 1992. He has participated in exhibitions that were held at Balai Seni Kedah, Balai Seni Lukis Negara, Galeri Shah Alam, Galeri Petronas, and Bank Negara.

    Many of the paintings of Rohaizad Shaari are influenced by the natural scenery of his hometown in Kedah. In this scene, the artist focuses on the wheels of an old bicycle near a shed, enveloped by a field of grass, situated near an agricultural land. Each blade grass is intricately rendered, reflecting his sophistication in watercolours. Through his works, the artist sought to express the transitions and effects of modernisation experienced by the local community in the rural landscape. Rohaizad Shaari had several solo exhibitions, Gerek (2003), Gelagat (2009) and Pohon Cemara (2011). He graduated in his studies in fine art at UiTM in 1992.     Born in Jitra, Kedah in 1969, painter Rohaizad Shaari graduated in Fine Arts from UiTM Shah Alam in 1992. Dabbling predominantly in the watercolour medium, the artist seeks inspiration from the Malaysian village landscape, with his favourite being ‘gerek’ or an ‘old bicycle’ appeared in nearly every of his paintings, which went on to inspire an entire series. Rohaizad’s paintings and works are visual depictions of human life and condition. The subject of nature and matter as a metaphor, relates to human action with various mannerisms and behaviours. Rohaizad relates in visual language his own background, living experience, his observation of the physical surroundings and the farmer’s lifestyle that are very close to his heart.
