Jaroslav Setelik, Prager Dächer im Herbst, Aquarell von 1930, gerahmt Jaroslav Šetelík, 1881 Tabor - 1955 Prag, tschechischer Landschaftsmaler, Blick über die Dächer Prags mit Bäumen, aquarellierte Kohlezeichnung, 24 x 42,5 cm, sign. u. dat., mit Widmung, hinter Glas mit P.p. im Goldstuckrahmen. Diesen Blick von einer Dachwohnung hat der Maler zu verschiedenen Jahreszeiten gemalt. Zum Künstler: Neben seinem Jurastudium 1899-1902 besuchte Setelik mehrere Monate die Malschule von Ferdinand Engelmüller. Später begann er ein Studium an der Kunstgewerbeschule bei Prof. Emanuel K. Liška, dann wechselte er an die Akademie der bildenden Künste in Prag, wo er Schüler von Prof. R. Ottenfeld war. Er nahm ab ca. 1900 an Ausstellungen teil. Nach seinem Studium reiste er durch Europa, z. B. lebte er ab 1905 in Paris und Italien. Spätestens seit 1911 verhalfen ihm seine Prager Motive auf Postkarten zu großer Popularität.1929 erhielt er den Grand Prix im Bereich der bildenden Künste für das auf der Weltausstellung in Barcelona, seine Werke sind in zahlr. Museen im In- und Ausland vertreten. The painter painted this view from a rooftop flat at different times of the year. About the artist: In addition to studying law from 1899-1902, Setelik attended the painting school of Ferdinand Engelmüller for several months. He later began studying at the School of Arts and Crafts under Prof Emanuel K. Liška, then transferred to the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where he was a student of Prof R. Ottenfeld. He took part in exhibitions from around 1900. After completing his studies, he travelled throughout Europe, living in Paris and Italy from 1905 onwards, for example. From 1911 at the latest, his Prague motifs on postcards helped him achieve great popularity. In 1929, he was awarded the Grand Prix in the field of fine arts for his work at the World Exhibition in Barcelona, and his works are represented in numerous museums at home and abroad.

The landscape with the mountain lake probably belongs to the period when he stayed and painted in the High Tatras, from which we have few works.
