      label, verso from Walker Galleries, N.Y., "#59, Alfred Sessler, Snow Shovelers". Milwaukee social realist painter. Sessler studied at the Layton School of Art and the University of Wisconsin. He exhibited throughout the 1930s-40s, at the Milwaukee Art Institute, Art Institute of Chicago, Worlds Fair New York, and the Kansas City Art Institute. He taught at the Milwaukee Teachers College, University of Wisconsin, and the Milwaukee Art Institute. This is an excellent example of this artist's work, and a very powerful image.
