Marguerite Sérusier, born Marguerite Gabriel-Claude on March 12, 1879 in Lons-le-Saunier and died on September 25, 1950 in Châteauneuf-du-Faou is a French painter and stylist.

She is the wife of the painter Paul Sérusier (1864-1927).

Daughter of an Army officer, Marguerite Gabriel-Claude was brought up at the education house of the Legion of Honor and attended the Beaux-Arts in Paris. She was one of the first to enroll at the Académie Ranson, where in 1905 she met Paul Sérusier, who was her teacher4; they get married on February 22, 1912 in Paris.

She is a drawing teacher at the Schools of the City of Paris and also directs the Atelier Martine, then the sewing workshop for young girls of Paul Poiret, exerting a notable influence on the arts of ornamentation, in particular on the art applied to carpets and textiles before World War I 5.

Marguerite Sérusier produces high quality paintings, some of which have been attributed to her husband6.

She also influenced her husband, encouraging him in particular in the practice of mural art7; She also encouraged her to resume between 1914 and 1917 her project to decorate the baptistery of the Saint-Julien parish church in Châteauneuf-du-Faou6. Paul Sérusier died of a heart attack on October 6, 1927 while going to visit his wife, in fragile health, at Morlaix hospital.

Widowed, Marguerite Sérusier who resides in Châteauneuf-du-Faou in the company of her two sisters and Henriette Boutaric, endeavors to make known the work of her husband, in particular by organizing several retrospectives in Paris.

She is buried in Morlaix with her husband.
