    PAINTED FAUTEUIL, George III, in the style of G. SEDDON (George Seddon, 1727-1801), England circa 1800. Shaped and finely painted wood in the 'gout chinoise'. The backrest with openwork and drapery motifs. With white fabric covers. 55x44x42x82 cm. Provenance: private collection, Paris. An identical pair of fauteuils was sold in our September auction 2007 (Lot 2171) BEMALTER FAUTEUIL, George III, in der Art von G. SEDDON (George Seddon, 1727-1801), England um 1800. Holz profiliert und fein bemalt im 'goût chinois'. Geschweifter, trapezförmiger Sitz auf gerader Zarge mit vorderen Säulen- und hinteren Säbelbeinen. Flache, durchbrochene und draperieförmig abschliessende Rückenlehne mit ausladenden Armlehnen auf Balusterstützen. Weisser Stoffbezug. 55x44x42x82 cm. Provenienz: Privatbesitz, Paris. Identische Fauteuils wurden in unserer September-Auktion 2007 (Katalognr. 2171) verkauft. G. Seddon wurde 1727 in Lancaster geboren und war 1743 Lehrling bei einem Kunsttischler. Nach der Meisterprüfung gründete er eine eigene Firma, die in den 1780er Jahren über 400 Angestellte beschäftigte. Als G. Seddon 1801 starb, war er nicht mehr Kunsttischler, sondern Privatier, ein sozialer Rang, den sehr wenige Kunsthandwerker erreichten. Mitglieder der Familie führten das florierende Unternehmen weiter und belieferten nicht nur den englischen Hochadel, sondern auch die Königsfamilie in Windsor Castle. Die umfangreiche Produktion von G. Seddon besticht durch qualitativ hochwertige Verarbeitung und zeigt Einflüsse der Entwürfe von T. Hepplewhite und T. Shearer. Lit.: P.
