Raymond Scully (Louisiana, 20th century) Raymond Scully was an art teacher in the New Orleans Public School system. He taught fine art (which included art history and architecture) and mechanical drawing when I was in junior high school at P.A. Capdau on Franklin Avenue (1961-63). He was by far my favorite teacher.Obviously very gifted, he showed students the techniques used for pencil, ink, block printing, pastels, oils, and watercolors.He had his own style and technique, which is evident in the pictures he brought into class.He was soft-spoken and good humored and genuinely kind. He had a thick shock of dark hair, and liked to play music in the background during class. He was a cigarette smoker. He died far too young of leukemia.
