Showcasing her dancing skills opposite Gene Kelly, Hayworth plays a chorus girl given the chance at stardom in this Technicolor musical. Speaking of the film, Hayworth said “I guess the only jewels of my life were the pictures I made with Fred Astaire…andCover Girl, too.” (The New York Times, “Rita Hayworth: Don’t Put the Blame on Me, Boys”, 1970). Ned Scott (American, 1907-1964) Born in Paris, France, Ned Scott became interested in photography at the age of 22. Soon after he joined the Camera Club of New York, where he met influential photographer Paul Strand. Invited by Strand to work on the set of a film in Mexico, Scott then moved to Hollywood to continue this career path as a freelance still photographer. Among the most notable films he photographed for areStagecoach (1939) andLong Voyage Home (1941). In 1945, Scott signed a contract with Columbia Pictures, working with stars including Rita Hayworth, Glenn Ford, Humphrey Bogart and Janet Blair. He worked with Columbia until 1948, after which he became an entrepreneur in the publishing industry. Condition In overall good condition.         NED SCOTT (American, 1907-1964) Redes Commemorative Portfolio 32 Silver gelatin, platinum, and hand coated silver prints, 1981 20 x 15 x 2-1/2 inches (50.8 x 38.1 x 6.4 cm) PROVENANCE: From the estate of Gunter von Fritsch. Fifty Year Commemorative Portfolio of Paul Strand's 1931 film Redes by Ned Scott. Contains two folios in original wood veneer slipcase of 20 platinum prints by Paul Strand and 12 silver prints by Ned Scott, printed by Ned Scott with a commemorative text folio by several contributors, including Manuel Alvarez Bravo. All in Spanish, signed and inscribed to Gunter von Fritsch, the film editor. Also included are 43 vintage 5 x 7 Ned Scott film stills taken on location; 19 4 x 3 vintage 'snaps' of the film set; 35 35mm contact proof strips; and one film transparency of a young boy holding a set clapper. Offered for the first time at auction. This lot is accompanied by 44 pages of provenance and research documentation about Gunter von Fritsch's contribution to the film. One 5 x 7 has a small chemical spot, otherwise excellent condition.
