          Schwontkowski, Norbert: Raucher

          Est: €1,200 - €1,800

Raucher Monotypie auf Bütten. 1992. 72,3 x 30 cm (84,5 x 30,7 cm). Signiert "Schwontkowski", datiert und bezeichnet "e(preuve d'.)a.(artiste)". - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalogue.

Some of Schwontkowski’s paintings delve into profound existential themes, while others portray everyday absurdities, which he collected in the small sketchbooks he always carried with him. Schwontkowski’s paintings possess a narrative quality, hinting at stories without divulging their conclusions. “Most of my paintings come from a dream. It is like the feeling when you are traveling on a train without a destination, or in the early morning when you just wake”, Schwontkowski describes. * Please note: condition reports and additional photos are available upon request. Some of Schwontkowski’s paintings delve into profound existential themes, while others portray everyday absurdities, which he collected in the small sketchbooks he always carried with him. It is like the feeling when you are traveling on a train without a destination, or in the early morning when you just wake”, Schwontkowski describes. An individual in search of enlightenment in a grim world is a recurring subject in his oeuvre. These individuals are often depicted in uncanny landscapes which cannot be located, as the picture space lacks specifications or perspective requirements. Hornochsenherde portrays such a delocalized landscape; the trees in the composition represent a forest-like scene, however, the location remains a mystery. * Please note: condition reports and additional photos are available upon request.
