Besides the famous painter of Romanticism Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840), painters like Johann Alexander Thiele (1685-1752) or Canaletto (1721-1780) have banned the picturesque landscape of the mountains on canvas or paper at an earlier period. Until well into the 20th century, think of Robert Sterl (1867-1932), and until today the Elbe Sandstone Mountains provides an extraordinarily fascinating scenery, which was and still is worth capture in an artistic manner. This item can only be delivered to an address within the EU This magnificent cabinet was made after the Versailles ‘Serre bijoux’. From 1770, the bedchambers of Marie Antoinette were redesigned. In course of this she charged the German ebeniste Jean Ferdinand Schwerdfeger (1734-1818) as well as Jean Démosthène Dugourc (1749-1825) with the production of the famous jewelry Cabinet. The original can still be admired today in the Grande Chambre of Versailles. The body, in the style typical two-part construction, rests on slightly tapered legs with closed struts. The rectangular attachment, is divided by a three-door front with corresponding drawers. Four caryatids are slightly protuberant beside. The final cornice, with curved gallery, is crowned on the front side by a mythological figure scenery. The body is richly decorated revolving with cross ribbons, garlands and floral appliqués. Mythological representations can be found in medallions, as well as in rectangular panels. Literature: c.f. for model: David Linle, Extraordinary Furniture, 1996, S. 44 f.
