[*] Aufsteigender Ikarus -- Bronze mit schwarzgrüner Patina. Um 1996. -- 69 x 24 x 18 cm. -- Verso unten monogrammiert "K.Sch.", bezeichnet "II" sowie mit dem Gießerstempel "SCHMÄKE DELMENHORST". Auflage 5 num Ex. -- -- Der Kontakt mit dem Boden ist auf ein Minimum reduziert, so dass die elegant stilisierte Figur im Flug begriffen scheint. Schwabes aufsteigender Ikarus unterscheidet sich nur wenig vom Stürzenden; auch hier sind die Flügel bereits klumpige Gebilde. Seit 1981 beschäftigte sich Klaus Schwabe intensiv mit der Technik des Wachsausschmelzverfahrens. Es entstanden ab 1982, nach einem Unfall des Künstlers, mehrere Skulpturen, die versehrte Körper, darunter den Ikarus, thematisieren. In den 1990er Jahren griff der Künstler dieses Thema erneut auf. Schwabe, seit 1965 als freiberuflicher Bildhauer in Leipzig tätig, lehrte ab 1969 plastisches Gestalten an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig, anschließend an der Dresdner Akademie. Reiter -- Bronze mit goldener Patina auf Marmorsockel. -- 25 x 16 x 12 cm. -- -- Klaus Schwabe absolvierte seine Studien an der Fachschule für angewandte Kunst Leipzig und an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden bei Walter Arnold, Gerd Jaeger, Hans Steger und Herbert Naumann. Von 1983 bis 1993 übernahm der Künstler die Bildhauerklasse an der Dresdner Hochschule und erhielt 1989 den Nationalpreis der DDR. Es folgten zahlreiche Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen im In- und Ausland und 1984 die Teilnahme an der Biennale in Venedig. Werke befinden sich in der Kunsthalle der Sparkasse Leipzig und im öffentlichen Raum. Die Arbeit ist ein Fragment der Reiterbronze „Budjonny“. Prachtvoller Guss mit schön schimmernder Patina. Die zwei Schwestern Bronze mit graugrüner Patina. 43,5 x 53,5 x 17 cm. Auf der Bronzeplinthe seitlich signiert "Schwabe". Schwabe verleiht der Bronze eine überzeugende Allansichtigkeit, indem er die beiden auf der niedrigen Bank sitzenden jungen Frauen mit den Schultern aneinanderlehnen lässt. Jeweils die rechte Hand greift nach hinten und lässt die beiden Figuren miteinander verschränkt erscheinen. Die glatte, leicht stilisierte Körperoberfläche gewinnt durch den kühlen Ton der Patina ein beinahe samtiges Aussehen, während sich die Struktur der Haare in leichter Rauheit andeutet. This bronze sculpture was created by sculptor Klaus Schwabe at the beginning of the 21st century. Shown is the mythological figure of Icarus. His father Daedalus constructed wings for himself and his son by attaching feathers with wax to a skeleton. When Icarus flew so full of arrogance too close to the sun, he fell into the sea. Schwabe devoted himself to this topos over a long period of time, creating different variations of the subject. Here he presents the deposed Icarus, only the skeleton of its wings is still visible. The choice of this theme was further quite present with artists in GDR times, in this way processing the arrogance as well as the end of the socialist regime. The bronze is signed verso on the base within the cast 'Schwabe' and inscribed 'E.A.'. The sculpture is overall in very good condition with slight signs of age and wear. The patina is partially slightly worn. The total height measures c. 86 cm. Klaus Schwabe (b. 1939) Sculptor Klaus Schwabe was born in Unterweißbach in 1939. After the training as a ceramic sculptor, he attended the School for Applied Arts in Leipzig. From 1960-65 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden. From 1965 he worked as a freelance sculptor in Leipzig, from 1969-72 he taught at the Evening Academy of The School of Visual Arts in Leipzig. In addition, he was a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, where he was appointed professor in 1986. Schwabe was also a member of the Association of Artists of the GDR.
