        Peter Schmidt (1931-1980) 'Im Koff - In the Head, A Book of Drawings by Peter Schmidt, 1968/9' a collection of line drawings, bound in a limited edition handmade artist's book, inscribed 'ARTIST'S PROOF' on the last page, printed in England, with an embossed cardboard cover 47 x 34.5cm The vendor of this work was a student of Peter Schmidt and helped with the binding and the covers of this artist book. Condition Report: Light time staining and some faint dirty marks. There are some spots of light foxing starting to emerge in places throughout the book. A small number of pages have small rips and tears to the extreme right edge but the drawings themselves are unaffected and appear to be in generally good order overall.

Peter Schmidt (1931-1980) Peter Schmidt was a British artist with many different interests and fields of activity at the interface of art, music and film: Schmidt worked as a painter, graphic artist, designer, performance artist and color theoretician and up from 1960 he was a teacher at the Watford College of Art, where he had an important influence on his students. The Berlin-born whose family was of Jewish descent, emigrated in 1938 because of the political situation in Nazi Germany with his mother to England. Over there he studied art at the Goldsmiths College and at the Slade School in the 1950s. His first solo-exhibition took place at the Beaux Art Gallery in London. The work of the artist, who later focused on cybernetics and abstracted systems, is characterized by the connection of different artistical fields such as fine art and music (e.g. the series ' PROGRAM').
