    Scheuch, Harry William (American, Western PA 1906 - 1978), Pittsburgh Underpass, 1972, oil on Masonite panel, 23.5 x 47.5 inches, in a simple wood frame measuring 25.5 x 49 inches, signed lower right. This piece was exhibited at the 1972 Associated Artists of Pittsburgh show where it was presented with the Jury Award for Distinction. Scheuch grew up in the Pittsburgh area and attended Carnegie Institute of Technology. In the late-1930s he found employment with the federal government's Works Progress Administration. From 1937 to 1940 he served as head of the Federal Art Project in Pittsburgh.

    Scheuch, Harry William (American, Western Pa. 1906 - 1978), Soho Portrait, 1946, oil on canvas, 30.25 x 40 inches, signed lower right, Exhibited in 1946 Associated Artist's of Pittsburgh 36th Annual Exhibition, at Carnegie Institute where this painting won the Association's First Prize and is illustrated in the exhibition catalogue, framed in a simple wood frame measuring 32 x 41.5 inches, an important example of Pittsburgh Social Realism. A wintry urban landscape with two women talking with a returning soldier while an antique junk dealer attempts to sell an item and another figure prepares to shovel snow. Harry grew up in the Pittsburgh area and attended Carnegie Institute of Technology. In the late-1930s, Scheuch found employment with the federal government's Works Progress Administration. From 1937 to 1940 he served as head of the Federal Art Project in Pittsburgh.
