        This is an original painting by artist Jim Schaeffing (American, 1920-2020). Titled "Her First Ceremonia", the painting features a full length portrait of a Native American girl in a beautiful blue ensemble against a backdrop of a field and mountains. Signed and dated for 1985. Jim Schaeffing received his formal art education at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and later enrolled into the Jepson Art Institute where he studied for 3 years under the tutelage of the late Nicolai Facing and Rico Lebrun. Jim landed an interview with the prestigious Charles E. Cooper Studios where he designed illustrations for European magazine articles and for Cosmopolitan magazine. In the later 50s he was commissioned to do a series of illustrations for the United States Air Force which are now part of the permanent art collection of the US Air Force and are displayed at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. He was a former faculty member at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) formerly known as the Chouinard Art Academy located in Santa Clarita, CA. Jim worked for all the major motion picture studios. Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, Universal, Columbia Pictures and the Walt Disney Studios. As a designer illustrator his accolades include Tora, Tora, Tora, Patton, Planet of the Apes w/Charlton Heston, It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Darby O’Gill and the Little People, Son of Flubber and most notably Mary Poppins to name a few. He was commissioned to do portraits of actors such as Tippi Hedren, Suzanne Pleshette, Keenan Wynn, Hayley Mills, the grand children of Roy Disney as well as families of writers, producers and other professionals in the industry. The frame is 31 1/4 x 19 1/2" and the sight is 23 1/2 x 11 1/2". The stretcher is 24 x 12".

        Jim Schaeffing, American b 1920 "To Win" yacht racing painting. Oil/Canvas. Signed lower right. Sight Size: 24 x 18 in. Overall Size: 32.5 x 26.5 in. Schaeffing was an illustrator and studio artist for Disney, Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Brothers in the 50's and 60's where he did scene studies for many famous movies including Mary Poppins and It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. He studied at Jepsons Art Institute in Los Angeles and was a member of the Society of Illustrators.
