Also close to home were the creative influences of her parents ? her mother, an accomplished, published poet, and her father, a brilliant chemical engineer and recipient of the Thomas Alva Edison Patent Award.

Saxton's talents also form the core of Saxton Illustration and Design, a graphic design firm established in 1985 serving numerous Fortune 500 companies, as well as small businesses and individuals. She is also the author/illustrator of two published children's books, The Book of Mermaids, and A Book of Fairies.
