Saussy received her artistic education from the New York School of Fine and Applied Art, the National Academy of Design, and the Art Students League. After her schooling and some world travel she returned to Savannah in 1923. Saussy settled back into the Savannah art scene and became instrumental in founding the Association of Georgia Artists. Her work con now be found int he collections of The Telfair Museums, Savannah, The Morris Museum, Augusta and the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art, Atlanta. Other Notes: Hattie Saussy was born in Savannah, GA and lived there her entire life. She was a painter and a teacher who traveled extensively in the Carolinas and north Georgia. From 1947 to 1952 she made several visits to New Orleans, painting street scenes in the city and bayous in the country. She studied at Mary Baldwin Seminary, Staunton, VA, the New York School of Fine and Applied Art, the National Academy of Design, the Art Students League, in Paris with E. A. Taylor, and at the Telfair Academy in Savannah. Her work is in the collections of several museums including the Morris Museum of Art, the Telfair Museum of Art in Savannah, the High Museum of Art, the Columbia Museum of Art, in Columbia, SC and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, Louisiana.
