        MARY SARG (1911-1986) American artist known for her illustrations for numerous popular women's magazines. A lot of three very early illustrations 5 1/4" x 3", accomplished by Sarg in color pencil when she was just 8 years old! Two show children ice-skating, while a third larger one shows a still life with candle, cup and vase. Along with an original color cartoon by her father TONY SARG (1880-1942), American puppeteer and artist, showing a man taking his own heartbeat. Four items, very good.

Portrait of a young girl standing in a field of Queen Anne's Lace. Pinholes around edges of canvas. Mary Sarg Murphy was the daughter of illustrator, designer, and puppeteer Tony Sarg. Murphy began her artistic career creating items for her father's chain of shops, including textile and wallpaper designs. Sarg's shops were located in New York, New Hope, Pennsylvania, and Nantucket, where the family spent each summer. Murphy developed a specialty as a portrait painter and illustrator, completing work for magazines such as "Mademoiselle" and "Today." Sight image 30" H x 23" W, framed.
