      ‘Gratification in Red’, 2010 One from an limited edition of 5 Lenticular lightbox with glass panel (The image changes depending on the position of the viewer) Size: 116 x 81 x 10 cm (Framed in a box and behind glass) PROVENANCE - Scream Gallery, Mayfair, London - Jamie Wood Collection, London NOTE A layered and printed sequence of still photographic images of a woman pole-dancing are placed under a lens of thin ribbed plastic to create a delicate and hypnotic animation, which comes to life, moving with the viewer. This work, as with much of Santini's, engages the viewer as voyeur of Santini's unwitting subject. (Please refer to department for Condition report.       DERRICK SANTINI (BRITISH B. 1965) LIKE THE TIDE SHE TURNS, 2015Lenticular lightbox Edition 3/3 154 x 109cm (60½ x 42¾ in.)Born in Scarborough in 1965, photographer Derrick Santini is now based in London and New York. His photographs have appeared in magazines such as i-D, Vogue, Flaunt and Nylon and a book of his portraits was published in 2004. Santini began experimenting with the lenticular process in about 2008 and subsequently had two highly successful London gallery shows incorporating lenticular prints and lightboxes. The lenticular process involves photographing a series of stills which are then layered over each other and printed using a special process. The images are then placed under a thin ribbed plastic sheet which acts as a lens producing an animation triggered by the viewer moving in front of it. Whilst the artist grew up loving the still photographic image, the lenticular offers something more kinetic as well as blurring the line between fantasy and reality. The interactive nature of it also appeals to Santini, being dependent on the viewer to create its magic at the same time as implicating them into the image itself.
