Attribués à Salomon Reinach d'après une note de famille sur l'enveloppe : "Joseph Reinach sur son lit de mort, dessiné par son frère cadet Salomon". Dessins au crayon, un dessin daté le 20 avril 1921 Dimensions : 212 x 136 mm ; 185 x 144 mm. Salomon Reinach (1858-1932) était le frère de Joseph Reinach. Il était le cadet des trois frères, Joseph, Salomon et Théodore. Salomon Reinach fut archéologue, conservateur et professeur d'histoire de l'art à l'Ecole du Louvre. Théodore Reinach fut un savant helléniste et numismate, membre de l'Institut. Le père des frères Reinach possédait une collection de tableaux et de gravures et Salomon Reinach était lui-même doué pour le dessin et reçoit des leçons de peinture. Joseph Reinach, farouche défenseur de Dreyfus et grand républicain, meurt le 18 avril 1921.

The work depicts the interior of a taproom, gathering four well-dressed men around a table. One of them has already emptied his pitcher and has therefore turned to the bar, where the innkeeper drinks a glass of wine. At the same time, the hostess sticks her head in, watching the illustrious circle. The painting is in very good condition considering its age. It is signed and dated “J.S 1797“ lower right. The frame is not the original one and has been adapted to the painting. It shows small traces of use and age at the lower and upper edge. The framed work measures 56 x 45 cm. The stretcher measures 45 x 32 cm. (cbo) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
