    John Safer (American, 1922-2018). "Amneran" - circa 1975, colorless acrylic, signed to lower edge. Provenance: Acquired from Findlay Galleries, New York, NY, 1975. Provenance: The Estate of Louis & Helen Regenstein, Jr., Atlanta, GA. Louis Jr. was the eldest son of Louis & Venia Regenstein, Sr., founders of Regenstein's Department Store. Louis Jr. served as senior partner at the law firm now known as Kilpatrick, Townsend & Stockton. Helen served on many philanthropic committees and boards throughout her life including The Alliance Theatre, The High Museum, and The Temple, and also served as Parliamentarian of the Atlanta Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Approximate dimensions: h. 45.5", w. 8", d. 5" (base).

    JOHN SAFER AMERICAN, WASHINGTON, D.C., 1922-2018 LUCITE THRUST, 1970 Signed and dated: John Safer '70 (2) Catalogue note: Safer's earlier small works were often in Lucite before he began working in bronze and steel. His first public commission, "Judgement", was installed at Harvard Law School. His hallmark work, "Ascent", stands at the entrance of the Smithsonian Institution Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles Airport. In 1985, he exhibited sculpture in The Pioneers of Flight at the Smithsonian Institution's Air and Space Museum.
