Olga Sacharoff managed to become an important representative of Catalan Noucentisme despite her Georgian origin. Already in her Parisian stay, prior to her Barcelona period, she adopted her own style in which nature and animals played an important symbolic role. Sacharoff builds in this panel an evocative vase determined by the Cezannian influence that marked the course of his production. The calm combination of bright colors immerses us in a luminous image, based on compositions reduced to the essential. This impression of silence, together with the resoundingly geometric character of the artist's drawing, creates in the work an air of timelessness, of eternal image, immortal thanks to the artist's genial touch. After studying at the School of Fine Arts in Tiflis, Sacharoff moved to Munich in 1910, where she came into contact with German expressionism. The following year he moved to Paris, where his work was initially influenced by Cézanne, and later evolved towards synthetic cubism. At the outbreak of World War I Sacharoff moved to Spain, where he settled in 1915, passing first through Mallorca to finally settle in Barcelona the following year. In fact, some historians point out that she was the introducer of cubism in Barcelona. From there she collaborated in Francis Picabia's magazine "391", considered the mouthpiece of Dadaism and published in Barcelona. He exhibited works in the Salons d'Automne in Paris in 1920, 1921, 1922 and 1928, obtaining important praise from the press and managing to organize, in 1929, a solo exhibition at the Parisian gallery Bernheim Jeune, one of the most important of the time. During these years she held an exhibition at the Layetanas Galleries in Barcelona (1934) and participated in the Montjuic Salon, of which she was appointed a member in 1935. At the outbreak of the Civil War Sacharoff returned to Paris, and in 1939 she exhibited at the Perls Gallery in New York. After the war he returned to Barcelona, and left behind the avant-garde to immerse himself in a naïve taste close to the Catalan noucentisme. His style adopted lyrical and amiable traits, and he put himself at the service of an idealized vision of Catalonia: landscapes, customs, popular types, etc. In general, compositions with multiple characters predominate at this time, depicted with schematic strokes and vivid colors. Chosen by Camón Aznar, he participates in the I Salón de los Once de Eugenio D'Ors (1943), held at the Biosca Gallery in Madrid. Two years later he organized a retrospective of his Parisian work, and in 1960 the General Directorate of Fine Arts dedicated an anthological exhibition to him. In 1964 he was awarded the Medal of the City of Barcelona. Sacharoff also illustrated books, with examples such as "La casa de Claudine" by Colette (1944) and "Netochka Nezvanova" by Dostoevsky (1949). Recently an anthology was dedicated to her in duo with María Blanchard in Bilbao (BBK Exhibition Hall, 2002). Olga Sacharoff is represented in the Mapfre Foundation in Madrid, the Reina Sofia National Center, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, the Museum of Art Nouveau and Art Deco Casa Lis, the Marés Museum, the Pablo Gargallo Museum in Zaragoza and the Monastery of Montserrat, among many others.

Measurements: 55 x 46 cm; 58 x 49 cm (frame). Olga Sacharoff's line takes on the delicacy of a fine tapestry. As a skilled seamstress she develops a filigree drawing, harmoniously combining flat and impressionistic colours, cold and warm, in balanced compositions. The white of the lace carpet is reflected in the bouquet, adding brightness, creating a welcoming and luminous atmosphere, the result of a careful study of nature, but distilling the forms to extract their essence. After studying at the Tiflis School of Fine Arts, Sacharoff moved to Munich in 1910, where he came into contact with German Expressionism. The following year he moved to Paris, where his work was initially influenced by Cézanne, later evolving towards synthetic Cubism. At the outbreak of the First World War Sacharoff moved to Spain, where he settled in 1915, first passing through Majorca and finally settling in Barcelona the following year. In fact, some historians point out that she was the introducer of Cubism in Barcelona. From there she collaborated in Francis Picabia's magazine "391", considered the mouthpiece of Dadaism and published in Barcelona. He exhibited works at the Salons d'Automne in Paris in 1920, 1921, 1922 and 1928, receiving considerable praise from the press and managing to organise a solo exhibition in 1929 at the Parisian gallery Bernheim Jeune, one of the most important of the time. Olga Sacharoff managed to become an important representative of Catalan noucentisme despite her Georgian origin. Already in her Parisian stay, prior to her Barcelona stage, she adopted a very personal style in which nature and animals played an important symbolic role. Sacharoff builds on this canvas an evocative vase determined by the Cezanne influence that marked the course of his production. The calm combination of bright colors immerses us in a luminous image, based on compositions reduced to the essential. This impression of silence, together with the emphatic geometric character of the artist's drawing, creates in the work an air of timelessness, of eternal image, immortal thanks to the artist's brilliant touch. After studying at the School of Fine Arts in Tbilisi, Sacharoff moved to Munich in 1910, where she came into contact with German expressionism. The following year he moved to Paris, where his work was first influenced by Cézanne, and then evolved into synthetic cubism. At the outbreak of World War I, Sacharoff moved to Spain, where he settled in 1915, first passing through Mallorca and finally settling in Barcelona the following year. In fact, some historians point out that she was the one who introduced cubism to the city. From there she collaborated in the magazine "391" by Francis Picabia, considered the spokesperson of Dadaism and published in Barcelona. She exhibited her works at the Salons d'Automne in Paris in 1920, 1921, 1922 and 1928, receiving high praise from the press and managing to organize a solo exhibition at the Parisian gallery Bernheim Jeune in 1929, one of the most important exhibitions of the time. During these years she held an exhibition at the Galerías Layetanas in Barcelona (1934) and participated in the Salon de Montjuic, of which she was named a member in 1935. At the outbreak of the Civil War Sacharoff returned to Paris, and in 1939 exhibited at the Perls Gallery in New York. After the war she returned to Barcelona, leaving behind the vanguard to immerse herself in a naive taste close to Catalan noucentisme. His style adopted lyrical and friendly features, and he put himself at the service of an idealized vision of Catalonia: landscapes, customs, popular types, etc. In general, compositions with multiple characters predominate at this time, captured with schematic strokes and vivid colors. Chosen by Camón Aznar, he participated in the I Salón de los Once de Eugenio D'Ors (1943), held in the Biosca Gallery in Madrid. Two years later he organizes a retrospective of his Parisian work, and in 1960 the Directorate General of Fine Arts dedicates an anthological exhibition to him. In 1964 he was awarded the Medal of the City of Barcelona. Sacharoff also dealt with book illustration, with examples such as Colette's "La Maison de Claudine" (1944) and Dostoyevsky's "Netochka Nezvanova" (1949). Recently, an anthology was dedicated to him as a duo with María Blanchard in Bilbao (BBK Exhibition Hall, 2002). Olga Sacharoff is represented at the Fundación Mapfre in Madrid, the Centro Nacional Reina Sofía, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, the Art Nouveau and Art Deco Museum Casa Lis, the Marés, the Pablo Gargallo Museum in Zaragoza and the Monastery of Montserrat, among many others.
