Pieter Andreas Rysbrack war der Sohn des Antwerpener Landschaftsmalers Pieter Rysbrack (1655–1729) und seiner Frau Genoveva Compagnon. Sein Vater war seit 1678 in Paris tätig. Pieter Andreas zog mit seinen Eltern um 1692 nach Antwerpen. Er lernte bei seinem Vater das Malen und wurde 1711 Mitglied der St. Lukas-Gilde in Antwerpen. Mit seinem jüngeren Bruder, dem Bildhauer John Michael Rysbrack (1693–1770), zog er um 1620 nach London. Ein weiterer Bruder, der Stilllebenmaler Gerard (1696–1773), schloss sich ihm und John Michael in England an. Einer der wichtigsten Aufträge, die Pieter Andreas erhielt, war der Auftrag von Lord Burlington (1694–1753) für eine Reihe von Landhausporträts von Chiswick House. Rysbrack reihte sich damit in eine lange Tradition flämischer Maler ein, die topografische Gemälde der Anwesen des britischen Adels anfertigten, zu denen Künstler wie Jan Siberechts (1627–1703), Peter Tillemans (1684–1734) und Hendrik Frans de Cort (1742–1810) gehörten. Das hier angebotene Gemälde ist im RKD, Den Haag, als ein eigenhändiges Werk von Pieter Andreas Rysbrack archiviert. ---------------

Around 1720, he left for England with his younger brother John Michael who became one of the main sculptors across the Channel. The painter also became known for his topographical landscapes.
