    Description: Andree Ruellan (NY, 1905-2006), Young Bootblack, possibly Charleston, 1936, Graphite on Paper, signed lower left, charcoal drawing of a boy reading a newspaper, with a case over his shoulder, with 'C.W. Kraushaar Art Galleries' label including title and artist, and a framer's label. Frame size: 23 3/8 in. x 16 3/4 in. Andree Ruellan was tutored in art from a young age and pursued formal training at the Art Students League in New York. She lived and studied in Paris for several years, developing her modern, realist style. She settled near Woodstock, New York, and spent some time painting in Savannah, Georgia. She is best known for her everyday depictions of people in New York and the South. Measurements: Height: by sight, 16 7/8 in. x Width: 10 3/4 in. Condition: Good condition, some toning to paper.
