Reuven Rubin Sold at Auction Prices

Figure painter, Painter, b. 1893 - d. 1974

Israeli artist Reuven Rubin is best known for his paintings depicting Israel's distinctive landscapes and the lives of its people. Rubin began his artistic career while studying in Jerusalem at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, but he soon realized that his stylistic preferences and artistic endeavors would be better served at Paris' Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Since the artist's early exhibitions in the 1920s, Reuven Rubin prints have been popular internationally, and Rubin won the Israel Prize in 1973 for his artistic work.

Often, Reuven Rubin prints capture biblical themes, and transform everyday Israeli life and figures into divine, symbolic scenes in a modern artistic style. Reuven Rubin paintings' prices widely vary depending on age and history, creating great opportunities for collectors. Browse the world of rare figural prints for sale at Invaluable to find the perfect piece to add to your collection.

About the Artist: Reuven Rubin was a Romanian-born Israeli painter, celebrated as a pioneer in the Israeli art world. Born on November 13, 1893 in Romania, Rubin served as Israels first ambassador to the country of his birth. His paintings use radiant, earthy colors and simple techniques, reminiscent of the work of French-Russian artist Marc Chagall, to explore the biblical landscapes of his home in Israel and its folk history. He regularly drew the countryside and people who inhabited it, transforming his observations into more fantastical and dream-like scenes through his unique artistic vision. Rubin died on October 13, 1974 in Tel Aviv, Israel.(Artnet).
