A heavy wrist chronograph with date Movm. No. 140541, Ref. 247.X.10, Cal. DR500, Case No. 10277, Dimensions 38 x 40 mm, Origin Schweiz, Original box Case: Steel, "Ellipsocurvex" case, screwed on glazed back, screwed crown, original steel bracelet, total length 185 mm. Dial: Two-colour silvered, guilloche pattern. Movm.: Automatic. This magnificent wrist chronograph has a beautifully curved case with convex and concave lines which fits perfectly on the wrist. The dial is partly ornamented with striped guilloche pattern and has a marvelously balanced layout. A window for the date is positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock Daniel Roth was one of the most gifted watchmakers of his time and designed the Breguet wristwatches before establishing his own manufactory in Le Sentier and Geneva in 1989. His reputation was mainly based on his complex timepieces such as the Tourbillon with an 8-day power reserve or the Westminster Grande Sonnerie Carillon. The brand was taken over by the Bulgari group in 2000. The workshops in Le Sentier and Geneva are shared with sister company Gérald Genta.

The great efficiency of the movement was granted by the technicians in Patek’s factory while the cases were supplied by many case makers such as Taubert for stainless steel one or Wenger just to name two. The beauty of those metal shells was notable and was more so for some particular creations with unusual shape. In 1955, Patek Philippe teamed up with Gilbert Albert, at the age of 24, a young renowned Genevan jewelry designer and artist. During the seven years he spent with the manufacturer, he created some of the firm's most daring designs, most notably the asymmetrical models from the "Ricochet" series. The present "Ricochet" watch is one of few examples of a reference 3424 in yellow gold with champagne dial which appeared to the public. In addition, this dial with black baton indexes in contrast with a shining champagne make this watch one of the most charismatic and ever produced by the Patek Philippe maison. The talented artist took his inspiration from his passion for modern art, notably works by Brancusi and Mondrian, the unusual yet timeless designs are considered as cutting-edge and unconventional today as they were when first produced 60 years ago. His designs were awarded the prestigious "Oscar" award at the Diamonds International Awards ten times - three for Patek Philippe, two for Omega, and five under his own name. One of its signature complications, the Retrograde was inspired by the similar complication made by Abraham-Louis Breguet, which was also the basis for the series of tourbillon pocket watches made by George Daniels that had a similar retrograde-hour display. This very complication is equipped on the Premier Retrograde reference 807L.10 here offered. The iconic shaped and curved case with stepped rounded bezel and curved lugs has been manufactured I stainless steel and preserved by the last owner with notable cure and attention. The black textured vertical guilloche dial with painted luminous radial Roman numerals for the retrograde hours on a plain reserve has outer minute division with 5-minute red Arabic markers, subsidiary oversized dial for the date at 6.
