Rossi / Napoli' On a shell as well as naturalistic stone base kneeling female nude, made of one piece Height: c. 55 cm Fine and hightly decorative depiction of a Venus or Aphrodite after an Hellenistic model, already frequently copied in ancient times and nowadays exhibited in variants in different musees as the Vatican Musee as well as the Louvre in Paris Condition: The figure is in age-related condition with usual traces of age and minor chipped parts.         URANIA Höhe: 91 cm. Vollrund gearbeitet, auf dem Sockel die Signatur "G. Rossi". Standfigur der mythologischen Gestalt Urania, der Göttin der Planetenwissenschaften, gefertigt in weißem Marmor. Die Figur im Kontrapost auf einem mitgemeißelten, querovalen Plinthensockel stehend, wobei der linke Fuß auf eine Planetenkugel mit umziehenden Ringen gestellt ist. Ihr Unterleib bedeckt von reich gefaltetem Gewand, der Oberkörper hingegen nackt wiedergegeben. Der Kopf bekrönt durch die Zackenkrone der mythologischen Figur, diese tritt aus dem nach hinten gebundenen Haar über der Stirn hervor. Der Kopf leicht nach rechts geneigt mit Blick nach unten, wohin auch der rechte Zeigefinger des ausgestreckten, rechten Armes deutet, während die linke Hand leicht erhoben ist und Zeigefinger sowie Daumen einander nahezu berühren. Die Figur in höchster Feinheit ausgearbeitet, unverkennbar ist der Einfluss des klassizistischen Stils Antonio Canovas.
