Her obsession with color and design began early in life. She followed in her mother’s footsteps to attend the Cleveland Institute of Art on a scholarship, the start of an “endless academic career” and the ideal outlet for her drive to collect, study, and write. While in graduate school Leslie went to Puerto Vallarta and met her future husband Ramon. They shared a passion for beauty in nature and in art. “We learned and wrote about many topics: Italian, Scandinavian, and American glass, Art Deco designs, Mexican silver, Herman Miller furniture, and so on. We traveled around the United States to photograph private and museum collections. That said, Murano glass was and still is our favorite.” The selection of Murano glass offered in this auction was amassed over 30-40 years and reflects the contents of four of Leslie Pina’s books. Loredano Rosin (Italian, 1936-1992), ▴ a Murano glass figure, modelled as a nude female with one arm aloft, raised on a rounded plinth, engraved signature and applied seal mark, 65.5cm high Condition Report: Overall good order, with no chips or cracks. Minor surface wear. Applied felt pads to the underside. Sime residual adhesive can be seen that is left over from the manufacturing process.
