Property of a Bluffton, SC Collector Description: Dino Rosin (Italy, b. 1948), Calcedonian, Murano Glass Sculpture, signed on the side of the base, figural multicolored glass sculpture on a black oval base, with Murano stamp on underside. Provenance: M. P. Demetre Jewelers, Charleston, SC, 1998, for $2400. Dino Rosin was born in Venice, Italy on 1948. His family moved to the glassmaking island of Murano when he was two months old. At the age of twelve, he left school and began work as an apprentice at the Barovier and Toso glassworks where he remained until he joined his brothers, Loredano and Mirko, at their factory, Artvet, in 1963. Dino continued at Artvet until 1975 when he moved to Loredano's newly established studio as his assistant. There Rosin collaborated with his brother for almost 20 years. In 1988, Rosin was invited to Pilchuck Glass School in the Washington state to teach solid freehand glass sculpture with Loredano and the American glass artist, William Morris. In 1992, Loredano met an untimely death in a boating accident. Dino assumed the role of 'maestro' and began to produce his brother's old designs and ultimately his own. He uses the ancient technique of 'calcedonia' coloration for his glass works of art. The colors in his works range from bright yellows to deep purples, varying on the metals used, temperature and duration the glass is in the furnace. Rosin's work is shown at many galleries throughout the United States. His first personal appearance tour in America in 1993 was a great success and he has continued to visit galleries to much acclaim. He has made several gallery appearances through the United States, culminating in a one-man show at the prestigious Corning Museum in Corning, New York. This late 20th century art glass sculpture handmade by celebrated glass artist Dino Rosin on the island of Murano is a solid glass figure technique using a proprietary chalcedony glass and hand polished. The sculpture depicts an intimate kiss with two heads having multi-colored striated decorations in hues of blue, lavender, scarlet and gray. Dino Rosin (Murano, Venecia, 1948) La espera. Escultura en vidrio calcedonio de Murano. Firmada. Sello de Studio Rosin. Dino Rosin comenzó a trabajar como aprendiz en las vidrieras de Barovier y Toso, donde permaneció hasta que se unió a sus hermanos Loredano y Mirco en su fábrica Artvet en 1963, realizando esculturas de vidrio únicas. Dino Rosin continuó trabajando en Artvet hasta 1975 cuando se mudó al nuevo estudio de Loredano Rosin como su asistente. Allí, Dino colaboró con su hermano durante más de 25 años, convirtiéndose en uno de los mejores artistas internacionales. Tras la muerte de Loredano (1991), los hermanos Dino, Diego y Mirco abrieron un nuevo estudio de vidrio en 1992. Allí Dino forjó sus esculturas de vidrio, caracterizadas por la pureza del material, la sencillez de la forma y la investigación técnica. Durante las últimas dos décadas, sus obras se han exhibido en muchas de las principales galerías de arte de todo el mundo. El mayor mérito de Loredano y Dino Rosin es el redescubrimiento de la "alquimia" detrás de la misteriosa técnica de la calcedonia, realizada por primera vez en Murano en el siglo XV , pero cuyo secreto se había perdido durante 150 años. El hábil uso que hace Dino Rosin del vidrio de calcedonio es único y hace que sus piezas sean reconocibles y muy importantes para los coleccionistas. 58 x 27 x 17 cm.
