Ronget, dated 29 ESTIMATE € 800 - 1600 STARTING PRICE € 800 Elisabeth Ronget-Bohm was a German-French painter and graphic artist of the Lost Generation. Ronget-Bohm studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Hanover, and is also believed to have studied at the Academy in Vienna and at the Bauhaus in Weimar. After her return to Berlin she joined the Novembergruppe. She was close friends with the painter and glass artist of the New Objectivity Elisabeth Keimer (1898 - 1935). After the influence of the National Socialists increased in Germany, she went to Paris in 1930, where she enrolled at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and worked as a designer. During the Second World War she fled from the Germans and spent time in Toulouse before travelling to the USA in 1944. She returned to Paris in the late 1940s and began painting again. She exhibited in various salons and was given a free studio by the city council. In her art, Ronget-Bohm practised Abstract Constructivism and worked mainly with geometric forms and coloured surfaces. Her works were shown in numerous exhibitions in Europe and the USA. Her later works were clearly inspired by Pablo Picasso's work. Ronget-Bohm died in Paris on 24 June 1980. The artist remained rooted in Parisian artistic life until her death.
