        MARE 139 (CARLOS RODRIGUEZ) (b. 1965): ELIZIT

        Est: $300 - $500

MARE 139 (CARLOS RODRIGUEZ) (b. 1965): ELIZIT Cut pressed aluminum with metal supports, unsigned. 11 x 13 1/2 x 11 in. Note: Mare 139 is best known for his graffiti art during the "Golden Age" of subway graffiti in New York City, 1975-1985. Beginning around 1986, he used the concepts and aesthetic of style writing to create three dimensional sculptures that re-interpreted graffiti lettering by peeling and folding the metal sheets. These forms take on more complex ideas, in a Cubist or constructivist vein, yet retain Mare 139's roots in graffiti writing. Salander-O'Reilly Galleries Consigned by Trustees
